MAKEUP: WHAT I USED!
I believe it is every woman`s goal to find the perfect foundation to match the color of your skin! I have used products from Mac to Stila, to find the perfect color foundation. I still come back to drug store cosmetics! I purchased high end makeup, only to be let down many times! My main peeve is the color. To find a color of foundation that will closely match the color of my skin was trying to find a needle in a haystack! After all, women of color, come in many beautiful tones! I find not many cosmetic companies care about our needs!
We have skin discolorations, oily skin, rich undertones to name a few issues! Why do we have to go into a store to buy two different color foundations to obtain our skin tone?
Why do I buy a color that seems to match my skin, then it oxidizes to a darker skin tone. Then I have to find a powder to lighten the color on my face! How many times I go out side, get into my truck, look in the mirror and see a image of Casper The Friendly Ghost?! I was really becoming unhappy! How many bottles of high end foundation I used once, because it was such a big disappointment!
Revlon Colorstay: Caramel
I went to Walmart to purchase Revlon ColorStay Foundation in Caramel for oily skin. It has nice texture, a light feel, buildable coverage and staying power. What I do not like about it. The foundation oxidizes to a slightly darker shade! I usually have to mix it with another shade lighter to get a color near my skin tone. The darker shade is perfect in the summer, not in the winter!
Covergirl Queen: Brulee
I heard about Covergirl Queen collection, but it is not available in my area. In October, my husband and I attended a wedding in North Carolina. We stopped at a CVS and what did I see? The Queen Collection! I bought Golden Honey Q825 and Brulee Q815.
Golden Honey was too dark for my skin tone. Brulee went on light, then oxidized perfectly to my skin tone!
The foundation claims to be a powder, a concealer and a foundation. I do not know about that! I like medium to full coverage, so I applied my armor! Rimmel Fix and Perfect Pro foundation primer, MAC Select Cover-Up in NW40 and two full pumps of Brulee. The foundation dries fast to a powdery finish, so I buff it out with my Costal scents flat top buffer! I apply my Covergirl Queen lasting matte pressed powder in Q405 light golden. I apply my MAC Sheertone Shimmer Blush in Sweet As Cocoa. (The only color blush I use!)
EYES:
I applied Milani Bella Eyes Gel Powder EyeShadows: Lid: 14 Bella Violet, Crease: 26 Bella Fuchsia and Milani Baked EyeShadow: 615 Fusion. Highlight: 29 Bella Rose, Inner Eyes: 28 Bella Chiffon. Eyeliner: Milani UltraFine Felt Tip Liquid Liner: 02 Black Gems. Bottom Lid: Wet and Wild Fergie On Edge Long Wearing Eye Pencil: A251 Midnight Girl.
BROWS: Black Radiance Eye Appeal retractable eye pencil: CA6532 Charming Brown.
MAKEUP FINISHING SPRAY: Skindinavia Bridal.
LIPPIES: Milani Color Statement Lipstick: 34 Violet Volt, NYC Applelicious Glossy Lip Balm: 351 Caramel Apple
I pray Covergirl does not discontinue this brand or my color! It is very nice to have a line made just for women of color!

MAKEUP: PRESERVING MY FACE!
I`am so addicted to my makeup! I rarely go out the house without it! I really began experimenting with make up during my first loc journey. I was so impatient with how I looked with my teenage locs, I had to do something to prevent from taking down my locs!
I called myself a late bloomer! I started wearing makeup in my mid forties! Before then, I wore only lipstick and mascara. I really thought makeup would consume too much time. I had three sons and patients to take care of! The year of 2008 was definitely a year of transformation for my hair and for my self worth!
When a woman turns fifty something, her body and skin begins to thin and sag. The skin on the face, begins to thin, wrinkle and sag. The skin tone can become uneven and blotchy. Your skin may become dry. I rarely come out the house without makeup. I have learned to take care of my face wearing makeup!
I don`t have any wrinkles yet, except for stress lines. LOL!
I try to keep my skin clean and well hydrated! When I do not drink enough water, I can see a big difference in my skin!
I remove my makeup with Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser and a micro fiber cloth. It dissolves most of the makeup off of my face!I then use my Olay Pro X brush! This is a must! I was wondering why my cheeks were inflamed and my pores so big. I was watching YouTube and decided to purchase the Pro X over the expensive Clarisonic Mia. After My first face wash, I applied some cleanser on my face, wet the Pro X brush then scrubbed my face. The makeup was coming out of my pores on my brush! The next morning, I noticed that my pores were closed and the redness on my face was going away. By the second day of using the Pro X, the redness was gone! THANK YOU JESUS!
After I cleanse my face, I use super jumbo cotton balls saturated with Witch Hazel. After my face dries, I place Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream. In the morning, I repeat the same regime excluding the Pro X and adding the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Original Cream. Speaking of Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle System, I think they are discontinuing this product! Makeup Alley gave this product rave reviews! Why does this happen when they have a great product? I`am on the internet buying this product.
These are the largest and softest cotton balls I ever seen! I bought them at Walmart when I ran out of cotton balls! When I ran out, I returned to Walmart. They did not have any! I went to the Walmart website and purchased these! When I married my hubby, I thought he was crazy because he purchased two of everything if he liked it. Now I know what he means! I do too!
Embrace the new you! We are not dead yet! Love your body, love your skin, love you! You deserve it!
